The NSW Ski Patrol Association was formed in 1969 as a lobby group for the volunteer ski patrols of Perisher, Thredbo, Charlottes Pass and Guthega. In 1978, Mt Selwyn joined and Mt Blue Cow replaced Guthega in 1988.

The main function of the NSW Ski Patrol Association is administrative. It purchases rescue and training equipment for its five member patrols. Anyone interested in becoming a patroller should contact the patrol of their choice by clicking the image below.

The association purchases equipment on behalf of each patrol and allocates it on a needs basis. Each patrol submits an annual request and the allocation is decided upon by consensus amongst the committee members. There is a high degree of camaraderie amongst the ski patrols in NSW and each works for what is best for the boarders/skiers of NSW.

The NSW Ski Patrol Association is an accredited Search and Rescue Group under the NSW State Rescue Board State Rescue Policy.

The Association represents the various ski patrols who themselves have members in excess of 300. In our relatively short ski season these member patrols assist over 5000 injured skiers and boarders on the NSW Ski slopes and cross country trails. Keeping in mind the short season of around 15 weeks and the distance most patrollers travel to work (averages over 6 hours driving each way), the number of accidents attended is a remarkable feat.

The NSW Ski patrol Association is affiliated with the national body, the Australian Ski Patrol Association and the International Ski Patrol Organisation - FIPS.
